I Hate Laundry

I've spent the past 5 days doing the laundry. All of the laundry. As of today, I am finally caught up. I have a couple of baskets yet to fold, but otherwise the washing is complete. I hate laundry. I want to hire someone to come to my house and do it for me. :-( I can't allow the husband to do it, because I prefer my laundry sorted and not washed in hot water.

Took Coralie to the Naturopath yesterday for a dose of that magical medicine that makes her infinitely more reasonable. Things are much better now.

My throat still hurts. :-( I have been gargling many times a day with a truly obnoxious liquid that consists of cider vinegar, extra-strong sage tea, salt, and cayenne pepper. Developed a dry cough today.

I've been watching a very interesting series of programs on The Discovery Channel about the life of Jesus. It focuses on what is archeologically known about the time in which he lived, so the religious aspect is downplayed, but it's very interesting stuff. They can also now show, digitally- based on scans of human skulls from Nazareth dating to that time, what he might have looked like. Not surprisingly, it's nothing like we see in artwork.

Ok, my brain is really crapping out now, so off to bed.

Hello,

Three interesting books about Jesus from the same guy, John Dominic Crossan. Excavating Jesus; The Birth of Christianity; and Jesus: A Revolutionary Biography.

Crossan is a former monk who is considered one of the foremost experts on the life and times of Jesus. Some of his ideas are pretty radical departures from the Christian norms (e.g, he doesn't believe in the virgin birth or that Jesus literally cured diseases with his 'miracles').

The 'biography' of Jesus is most accessible. The Birth of Christianity is a tough slog because it assumes a high level of knowledge about Biblical archaeology from the reader, a level of expertise I don't have. I'm about 1/2 through it.

Merry Xmas.

I have always wanted to read the Crossan book that powem recommended.

And I hate laundry, too. I *applaud* you for plowing through your whole pile! Brava!
