Poor Thing...

At first I was excited to have this Purple Finch close enough to get a good photo, but then I realized that something was wrong. He was sitting for too long, too close to the ground, and out in the open. I saw when he turned around to drink out of the bucket that his right eye was glued shut. I took this photo through the patio door. Afterward I went outside, and he actually let me get right up to him before he decided he was nervous enough to fly away... but I could see that he had some sort of eye infection. It's too bad... I don't get to see these too often. Usually we just have the House Finches.
