We finally took the plunge and ordered a stove insert for our fireplace. A plain old fireplace is woefully inefficient if you're actually trying to heat a room. So, with the installation cost it will probably be about $2000. (bye $, sniff...) It will be worth it though, if we can use a little less gas since the rates are going up.
So I found out why Keelan was allegedly 'loving' his cereal at my in-laws... THEY WERE PUTTING HEAVY CREAM IN IT. Reminder, folks, he is only 5 months old. I told my hubby, 'Hey, he can't have that! He's too little!' His lame response was, 'Well, I think they were trying to get some fat into his diet, besides, it was only a little bit'. (Cue sound of me smacking my forehead) Which is really dumb, because he's a little small on the scale but *not* underweight. So, I told him to politely tell his parents NO DAIRY IN THE CEREAL. If they are compelled to give him something else, he can have bananas. Good grief, what are people thinking?! I have to remind myself that these people are a totally different generation and they gave their kids solid food at two months. Still, the fact that they didn't consult me first curls my hair. Hell, I'd eat the rice cereal too if there was heavy cream in it.
