We Haven't Even Arrived at Bedtime Yet...

My lovely daughter will be 3 in December (eek!). That should give you an idea what her behavior is like right about now... I made a foolish attempt at running an errand today, during which I drove to the craft store. I managed to get both kids out of the car, but my daughter decided that it was a good time to have an absolute meltdown in the parking lot because she couldn't ride in the stroller (odd, because she has refused to ride in it for about a year). Funny how when this happens people stare at you like their kids never tweaked out in public...I decided that I really didn't need to deal with this in the store, so I got them back in the car and headed to the gas station, and during that trip she fell asleep in the middle of her tantrum. Once I arrived home, I was taking my son into the house when I heard something that sounded like faraway screaming. It took me a minute to realize 'hey, that's my other kid!'... she had woken up and picked up right where she'd left off when she fell asleep. She decided to take a swat at me in her frustration, so I spent the next 10 minutes or so trying to pin her in time out while she shrieked and thrashed... I found my self struggling not to laugh as I was holding her feet while she tried to crawl up the stairs, it was so ridiculous...in the end I just took her to her room and plunked her on the bed so she could cool off. It doesn't help that my son (2 months) is having one of those days where he just isn't amused by anything for more than five seconds and therefore needs to be held. A lot. So, after cooking dinner with one hand, holding him with the other, and having my daughter eat only corn for dinner, he's finally snoozing in his crib and my daughter is watching Veggie Tales. So now we'll see if I'm posting again in the middle of the night while my son is swinging from the chandelier instead of sleeping...
